Proportion of Teachers Who Are Fully Credentialed and Academic Performance Indexes (5 Charts)

Schools with higher Academic Performance Index scores tend to have higher proportions of fully credentialed teachers (Chart 1 of 5).

  • There are very few schools with less than 40 percent of teachers who are fully credentialed (see more detailed charts below), and because of small sample sizes, median API scores for schools with less than 40 credentialed teachers are erratic.
  • For schools with 40% credentialed teachers or more, there is a distinct relationship between the proportion of teachers who are fully credentialed and the API score: a higher API score is obtained by schools with a higher proportion of credentialed teachers.
