Graduates in schools with a high proportion of poor students are less likely than others to complete courses which will make them eligible to attend California State University or the University of California (Chart 1 of 3).

  • Across the region in schools with fewer than 20 percent of students participate in subsidized meal programs, 44 percent of graduates complete courses making them eligible to attend California State University or the University of California.
  • Across the region in schools with more than 80 percent of students participate in subsidized meal programs, 31 percent of graduates complete courses making them eligible to attend California State University or the University of California.

Graduates in schools with a high proportion of minority students are less likely than others to complete courses which will make them eligible to attend California State University or the University of California (Chart 2 of 3).

Graduates of year-round schools are less likely than graduates of traditional calendar schools to complete courses which will make them eligible to attend California State University or the University of California (Chart 3 of 3).

  • In the Los Angeles Unified School District, 44 percent of graduates in traditional schools complete courses making them eligible to attend California State University or the University of California, while 37 percent of graduates in year-round schools do so.
