- Los Angeles Unified (746,852) and Long Beach Unified (97,212)
enroll more than a quarter of the region's students
- Outside those two large districts, most of the region's students
are in moderately large districts.
Most elementary students are enrolled
in medium-sized schools (Chart 2 of 3).

- Los Angeles Unified School District is the exception: elementary
students there are enrolled in somewhat larger schools.
