(Chart 1 of 2)

Data Source: http://www.cde.ca.gov/fiscal/financial/financialdata.htm

  • In the Five County Region, total operating expenditures per student vary widely across districts.
  • In 5CR, approximately 40% of districts spend $7,000-8,000 per student.
  • In 5CR, approximately 25% of districts spend $10,000-11,000 per student.
  • Outside Los Angeles County, 60% of districts spend $7,000-8,000 per student.
  • In Los Angeles County, only approximately 20% of districts spend $7,000-8,000 per student.
  • However, in LACO, more than 45% of districts spend $10,000-11,000 per district.
  • Thus, most districts in LACO spend more per student than what most districts in OLACO spend per student.

Most students attend districts spending $7,000-9,000 per student.

Data Source: http://www.cde.ca.gov/fiscal/financial/financialdata.htm

  • In the Five County Region, about 50% of students attend districts spending $7,000-8,000 per student.
  • Outside Los Angeles County, about 55% of students attend districts spending that amount.
  • In Los Angeles County, approximately 45% of students attend districts spending that amount.
  • Notice also that, though very few districts in OLACO spend $11,000+ per student (from above), there is a surprisingly higher proportion of students in OLACO attending those districts than expected.
  • Notice that, though most districts in LACO spend $10,000-11,000 per student (from above), most students in LACO attend districts that spend $7,000-8,000 per student, implying that fewer students attend those higher spending districts.
