  • In the Five County Region, the number of schools has grown steadily over the past ten years.
  • Most growth is due to increases Outside Los Angeles County and Los Angeles County.
  • Growth in Los Angeles Unified School District has been relatively modest.

Student enrollment has increased over 25% in the last decade.

  • In the Five County Region, overall enrollment has increased by over 25%.
  • Outside Los Angeles County, enrollment has increased by approximately 35%.
  • In Los Angeles County, enrollment has increased by approximately 20%.
  • In Los Angeles Unified School District, enrollment growth has been modest at a little over 15%.

The number of schools has increased less than 15% in the last decade.

  • In the Five County Region, the number of schools has grown in relation to enrollment growth.
  • In the 5CR, overall enrollment increased over 25%; the number of schools increased under 14%.
  • Note that the new schools is likely to be of different sizes and for different numbers of students.
  • This is the best comparison available; a more appropriate measure would be intended school capacity.
