- In the Five County Region, in districts with less than 30% of
students participating in subsidized meal programs, less than 16% of
teachers are minorities.
- The relationship is much stronger in Los Angeles County and the
Los Angeles Unified School District: districts with more than 60 % of
students participating in subsidized meal programs have more than 35%
minority teachers.
- In LACO and 5CR, districts with more than 90% of students
participating in subsidized meal programs have nearly 70 % minority
teachers.
Poor students are less likely to
have fully credentialed teachers.

teachers with full credentials.
- Districts with more than 60% of students participating in

students participating in subsidized meal program have teachers
averaging more than 12 years of experience.
- Districts with more than 80% of students participating in
subsidized meal program have teachers averaging less than 11 years
of experience.
